Partnerships are essential in this 21st century for the success of Zoos involved in wild life conservation as they strive to achieve the ultimate goal of restoring and preserving biodiversity. Owing to increasing financial constraints in zoos, it is more crucial to develop partnerships. It is in this background that Tata Steel Zoological Park initiated a dialogue with Chester Zoo for forging a long-term conservation partnership. Prof. Gordon McGregor Reid, Director Emeritus, Chester Zoo, U.K visited Tata Steel Zoological Park during December 2010. Following topics were identified for collaboration and mutual help:

  1. Healthcare of zoo animals

  2. Education

  3. Zoo research

  4. Capacity building

  5. Master Planning
